Membership
We invite New Zealand-based vaping manufacturers, importers, retailers and exporters to join VIANZ and support us to be the voice for vaping with policymakers. VIANZ is committed to being free from the influence of Big Tobacco and Big Pharma, so these companies are barred from joining. VIANZ is run by Kiwi vaping companies and advocates who want to see a Smokefree New Zealand. VIANZ members are connected by their desire to bring quality vaping products to New Zealanders and the world.
VAPING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF NEW ZEALAND (VIANZ)
MEMBERSHIP RULES
VIANZ is an association representing the interests of manufacturers, importers and retailers of vaping products in New Zealand.
1. Purpose
1.1 VIANZ’s purpose is to:
(a) promote a smoke free New Zealand;
(b) work proactively with Government to help shape policy-making decisions that support a smoke free New Zealand;
(c) be a collective voice and advocate for the manufacturers, importers and retailers of vaping products;
(d) promote the principles set out in the Code of Conduct,
and such other purposes as determined by the Board from time to time.
2. Membership
2.1 VIANZ has two classes of membership:
(a) Full Members are manufacturers and importers of vaping products.
(b) Retail Members are retailers of vaping products in New Zealand.
2.2 No person who imports or manufactures tobacco products or medicines containing nicotine (as defined in the Medicines Act 1981) may be a member of VIANZ or the Board.
2.3 The Board must approve each new member (and class of member).
3. Membership fees
3.1 The Board may set membership fees from time to time.
4. Board
4.1 The governance and operation of VIANZ are vested in the Board.
4.2 Each Full Member may appoint one representative on the Board.
4.3 The Retail Members may appoint a representative to the Board by a majority vote.
4.4 The Board may co-opt additional Board members from time to time (including vaping industry experts who are not members provided that they do not breach clause 2.2 of these rules.
4.5 The Board may set its own rules for holding meetings and making decisions.
4.6 No person may make any public statement on behalf of VIANZ unless delegated to do so by the Board.
5.0 Code of Conduct
5.1 The Board will publish (and may amend) a code of conduct for members on the vianz.co.nz website.
5.2 All members must comply with the code of conduct.
5.3 The Board may cancel or suspend the membership of any member who breaches the code of conduct.
6. Administration of VIANZ
6.1 The Board may appoint an administrator to run the day to day operations of VIANZ (including collection of membership fees and VIANZ’s financial operations).
6.2 The Board may delegate its functions to an administrator appointed under clause 6.1.
7. Amending these Rules
7.1 The Board may amend these rules from time to time by publishing the changes on the vianz.co.nz website.
