This updated Cochrane review found a high-certainty evidence that nicotine vaping products are more effective than nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), such as patches and gum, for helping people quit smoking.
The review analysed 80 randomised controlled trials involving almost 30,000 adults who smoke.

The review found no clear evidence of a difference in serious adverse events between nicotine vaping and NRT.
